Christmas is rapidly advancing on us! We were thinking, besides the presents and the food and wine, what are some fun and creative ways to celebrate the holidays and enjoy that precious time with your family and friends...
My Kitchen Rules Competition
Make it a husband versus wife cook off! The rest of the family get to eat the delicious dishes and judge the best cook. The winner get's to pick one thing off their 'bucket list' to do and.... they do not have to do the dishes.
DIY Family Photo Booth
Get your family and friends to collect as many wild and wonderful props as you can. Create a corner of the house or yard at your party for your DIY Photo Booth and get creative. Use your smart phones or buy a polaroid camera.
There's a lot of cooking and baking that goes on at this time of year anyway... so why not record those amazing recipes in your very own Family Cook Book. Have every family member choose several of their favorite recipes and type it up. You could also use Apple's PhotoBooks program or something similar to create a printed copy for everyone.
Treat it like a real vacation, take a break from household chores and general busyness and make a plan for fun! As a 'local' you often take for granted what is in your city or region, and actually miss out of the good stuff. Plan day-trips, ask your local visitors centre what's happening, check out the city council calendar and uncover local markets. This is great if you really need a holiday but your budget is limited.
* Short on ideas? There is infact a book called The Great American Staycation on Amazon. Seriously.
