Whether you’re a tourist on a weekend getaway, or a Sydney local, a great bakery is an awesome place to check out for amazing local food, produce and sweet treats. We’ve put together this list so you can check out the best bakeries in the city, and try the beautiful bread and pastries on offer. 

 

 

1. Iggy’s Bread - Bronte

Iggy’s bread is famous in the eastern suburbs for it’s beautiful rustic sourdough, whole-wheat and rye bread. This bakery also offers delicious options for a mid-morning snack or lunch alternatives! Have a swim at Bronte Beach afterwards!

2. Berkelo - Brookvale

Head to Berkelo in Brookvale for delicious breads and pastries, with locally sourced ingredients and artisan bakery methods. Basically everything you can eat at Berkelo is made in-house with fresh and local ingredients, so it’s a favourite with Sydney-siders.

3. Black Star Pastry - Rosebery

Rosebery’s Black Star Pastry is famous all over Instagram for it’s ‘Strawberry Watermelon Cake’, (pictured above) with over one million slices a year served! So head here if you want to take some pictures, but make sure to check out all their other amazing cakes and treats.

4. Bourke Street Bakery - Surry Hills

Bourke Street Bakery is one of Sydney’s most recognisable and iconic foodie spots, with destinations all across the city. Their Surry Hills location is the flagship store, so here you’ll find all of their amazing bread and more.

5. Organic Republic Bakery - Bondi

Bondi’s Organic Republic Bakery is home to the most delicious range of baked goods, all baked fresh daily with the finest of ingredients. Locals love this place for a loaf of rustic sourdough or a sweet treat!
